What does the Parish Council do?
Information about what the parish council does
Parish councils discuss and make decisions on issues that affect the local community. Probably the most common topics that parish councils get involved with are planning matters (they are statutory consultees), and issues regarding roads & highways.
Foxholes with Butterwick Parish Council has been instrumental in reducing the speed limit through Foxholes from 40 mph to 30 mph, and helped to obtain the flashing “30 mph” speed limit signs at the north and south end of the village. We have helped to provide village “Village Gateway” and “Welcome” signs, defibrillators in both Foxholes and Butterwick, benches, trees, notice boards, the Christmas tree with lights on the village green, flower planters and dog waste bins. We also liaise with the appropriate authorities regarding traffic problems, street repairs and drainage, grass cutting and we have recently upgraded the street lighting to more efficient LED lighting.

We are looking for a new member to join the Parish Council and would particularly welcome anyone from the Butterwick area to join us. If you are over 18 and on the electoral role, live or work in the parish, you may be eligible to become a member of the Parish Council.
Our meetings are held 6 times a year, usually bi-monthly, in the “Library and Meeting Room” at the Foxholes Community Hall.
If you would like to apply or would like more information, please contact Sammy, Parish Clerk, contact details will follow shortly.
